My son, a freshman, is taking Ms. Blackburn’s Latin class.  I have listened to Ms. Blackburn as she conducts live lessons and am so impressed with the passion she exudes!  I literally found it infectious and am now sitting with Easton to learn alongside him.  She responds to emails quickly and thoroughly, and she clearly wants students to learn some Latin.  She also wants students to learn about Ancient Rome and have fun learning trivia related to Roman feasts and foods. She also shared some heartfelt messages regarding those who are in Hurricane Helene’s cone and urged them to take necessary precautions.  She is such an asset to FLVS, and I am most thankful that she is my son's teacher!

We moved to Florida in 2020 and the schools were terrible! We had one in elementary, middle school and high school. We pulled the 2 older ones out of school and tried FLVS. It was an amazing experience. Both my kids really enjoyed it. I loved the DBA (discussion based assessments) because the teachers talked with my kids to make sure they were learning and understanding before they took the end of the unit tests. The teachers were helpful and were always available for questions and phone discussions. The teachers would text me and my kids throughout the semester to check on us or encourage them. Also, the kids have opportunities to meet online with other students and a teacher who actually teaches a specific lesson. They get full credit for attending the class. We have since moved out of the state of Florida and we are looking for another online school that is as good at FLVS. This school was a life saver for us.

I decided to try FLVS (both Focus and Flex programs) during my last year of middle school and throughout my high school years because I wanted to better my education. Let's just say I went from years of being praised in public school for my good grades and behavior to getting behind on my education and now having to get my GED. No help, no guidance, but would get scolled for being in that situation by the teachers in these programs instead of actually guiding my parent and I, especially since I had to navigate it all myself as a minor. Once I wanted out of the program it was too late since I was really behind on certain subjects and basically had to get a GED at that point. I spent many of these wasted years crying and having school related nightmares while the insane amounts of homework pilled up. Now I'm working hard to continue my education despite the struggles. ⚠️ PLEASE, BOTH STUDENTS AND PARENTS, THINK TWICE BEFORE ENROLLING!

I wish I had read the reviews previously. The fact that I spent my own money as a student, the most embarrassing financial decision I made as a young adult. I had to advocate for myself constantly. They claim to be flexible but did nothing to help make my situation easier. The other school I was enrolled in worked so hard to help me, Florida Virtual School just repeated the same lines over and over putting no effort or creative thought to change something to help me. The teachers are great, but I will never forget how small the institution made me feel.

Give certain people a hard time for registration even after verifying my residency correctly they still aren't accepting me and I know I had same address on both I'd and student portal . Customer Service Agent - Ms. Sharmane Ramlogan Emailed me from Florida virtual stating erroneous and false information about my residency submission . She said my address on student portal didn't match my physical identification and it did . I don't understand why they are trying to make it hard for me to do virtual but I already spoke with a different agent and I had already completed the proper registration process and addition steps and then Ms Shamane Ramlogan lied about my proof of residency not matching and it did indeed match my student portal .

Our family has been with FLVSFT since my children first started school (2012) and we love it. The curriculum is smooth yet challenging. My children complete their FSA, AICE and AP Testing at the headquarters building in Orlando and the staff there is very accommodating and sweet! My children feel very safe and secure here. FLVSFT Rocks!!!!!!!

The support staff, teachers, and principals are poorly trained in the school procedures. They cannot even tell whether a procedure is on the website. I confirmed before enrolling by email if they would complete a form at the end of the year for my son who is homeschooled. I got an email confirming they would complete the form. Come to find out months later they will not complete the form and it is considered a conflict of interest. We have had other issues along the way. If you're a parent of a homeschooled student, I don't recommend FLVS.

BEWARE they make you think the program is wonderful when your signing up, they are smooth..they say a teacher is provided and work at your own pace but you have to turn in a heavy load of homework every week! FLEX Program is THE PARENT TEACHING 100% & they provide a teacher that dishes out the exhausting curriculum !
Teachers basically tell you in a cut & dry way your in for a real challange ⚠️?
BIG NO NO: If you enroll at the end of the year or a month before the 1semester of school ends they make you complete the whole year over for the remainder, instead of the amount of school that is left in brick and mortar.

RUN!!

I would not choose this option unless you as the parent want to be 100% hands on with a heavy with load. Their are so many steps just to find the homework and turn it in that's it can make your head spin.

all this is an opinion
