I had the absolute pleasure of working with Ray on my Firestone in Liberia game. Once our collaboration began, he was quickly able to identify what was necessary to take complete the game, improve the experience for students, and satisfy the requirements of "Reacting Games." His suggestions and spirit of mindful cooperation were so helpful in my thinking about the game from a new perspective. I can say unequivocally that the game will now be a better experience for student players than when he first looked at the game. I am so grateful for the seriousness with which he considered my goals with this game and the effort he made to make it better. I would absolutely recommend any game authors looking for help and support in their games to work with Ray. I would do so again, without hesitation.

Ray is truly adept at his craft. We gave him a game with what had seemed like insurmountable obstacles to publication (lots of contemporary primary sources still under copyright and lots of sources for game materials with links to websites that could not be reliable to definitely still be available for perpetuity and therefore not suitable for print/publication), and in four weeks, he delivered our game back to us not only with all those obstacles overcome, but also fully reformatted to fit editorial guidelines -- in itself what felt to us like a Herculean task! It is still astonishing to me how quickly he did the work and how we went from having a game that we'd like to submit for publication to having a game that was ready (with a few minor tweaks) for publication months if not a year or more before we thought that might happen!

Ray Kimball brings organization, professionalism, and insight. I've worked with him on a number of projects and have overseen his work on others. I am always impressed with the outcomes. He listens carefully, asks the right questions, and then moves forward with determination and speed.

Dr. Raymond Kimball helped us to update our older Reacting to the Past historical role-playing game and update it to current Reacting standards. He brought fresh ideas on how to simplify the game to make it more accessible. He also went above and beyond our expectations in updating the role sheets, adding photos and additional info that he found on his own.

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Kimball for his expertise and professionalism in the world of educational games!

I feel lucky to have had Ray Kimball as editor for my co-authored game. Ray was professional, well organized, and thorough in his work on our game and made a substantially positive difference in the quality and coherence of our game. I appreciated the regular check-ins which kept us up to speed on the work he was doing and gave us a chance to weigh in as needed.

I met Ray, the founder of 42 Ed Games, through Reacting to the Past, a community of educators who both design and implement historical-based roleplaying games for the classroom. I had just started adapting and designing roleplaying games for STEM courses and had attended my first conference, when Ray expressed interest in helping me get one of my ideas off the ground. The game, "The Cigarette Century: Tobacco and Lung Cancer, 1964-1965" went from an idea on the backburner to fully fleshed out game in less than two months with Ray's help. The game is fantastic and was so much fun to co-design with a veteran Reacting player like Ray. It's currently being vetted by the Reacting Consortium for publication. I would highly recommend Ray's expertise in all things educational games.
