The carriage house is a charming inn. You could tell the management puts in a lot of effort to make the place nice, and accommodating. We had a room overlooking the river that was beautiful. The room comes with a microwave and refrigerator. Bring your own coffee and mugs if you want coffee first thing in the morning. ||We stayed there on a Saturday in mid February the town is charming but extremely quiet. Only a few restaurants are open at this time. But you have the whole town to yourself. We brought a dog. Right across the bridge about 50 yards from the hotel entrance there’s a nice little patch of grass to let them stretch their feet…|| We came from Auburn California to Downeyville a beautiful drive then went back home through Sierra city and Sierraville, via Truckee a beautiful drive highly recommended.

You won’t want to leave! We were looking for a quick getaway from Sparks, NV and decided on Downieville. The Carriage House Inn, or CHI, was highly rated for good reason.

The love and care that has been put into their guests having a perfect experience is obvious the second you arrive. You are greeted by the friendliest staff and you will find your personalized envelope with everything you need to kick off your stay.

We stayed in the Feather Suite and it was spacious with a nice welcome book that tells you about the staff, the local restaurants, sites to see nearby and the number to text if you need anything at all.

They do host a happy hour a couple doors down at Boomtown and depending on when you are staying, you may catch trivia night.

Coffee and breakfast are pretty much right outside your door. Everywhere we went had #vegan options too.

This location is incredible. You can fall asleep to the sound of the river or sit out on the patio to relax. Everything is just a few steps from your door. We walked right across the street to Jadaa’s restaurant for lunch one of the days we were here.

The town closes up fairly early do you don’t need to worry about noise. You will get the best nights sleep here.

The bed was comfy and the room was just what we needed for a long cozy weekend. Coffee and ice cream downstairs is yummy and don’t miss the little store in the back where you can find all kinds of treats and interesting gifts.

We had a most excellent family reunion here. The staff is so sweet and keep the rooms and whole inn beautiful and accommodated. The rooms are cozy and comfy, and sitting right next to the river? Ahhhh...talk about getting your beauty sleep. It's so peaceful drifting off to the sound of the river streaming through your window. The whole town of Downieville was so welcoming to us and we made lasting memories we'll cherish forever. Can't wait to go back and do it all again. Lydia, the manager, and her team are so kind and warm. They go above and beyond to make their guests feel at home while staying at their home away from home. Wow, just so very magical. The outdoor firepit and chairs over look the river and directly across is their sister property Riverside Mountain Lodge. You will not go wrong with these amazing cottages. If you're coming to the area, stay with them. I can guarantee you'll leave with your own magical memories.

The Carriage House Inn has Historic charm, convenient location & ease of parking. Management was gracious and welcoming. ||Our King room was clean & spacious, comfortable mattress and couch...|however a bit 'funky' with the "kitchen" set up (we did not use). Note, no coffee |maker in the kitchen but a voucher provided for their cafe to get coffee.|There was a view of the bridge/river from our balcony & the common area below was relaxing to enjoy a different perspective of the same.||Bring ear plugs--you are right on the road and the floors above our room creaked.||We chose this location for a mountain biking adventure. The Downieville Outfitters Bike Shuttle is awesome. Would recommend.|Also the River Cafe within walking distance has very good food.

Best location. Great spacious room we had with a balcony. Hands down best place to stay in the town. The staff makes you feel like family. Walking distance to everything the town has to offer. Super comfortable and homie. All the amenities of a 1 bedroom apartment with a dope balcony. I’d definitely go back.

Great little getaway for a night! Was pleased to see provided dog dish, bed & treat.. that was a nice touch for my pup. So peaceful with the sound of the river. Being able to sit out on the balcony and downstairs in the Adirondack chairs was a bliss. Such a quaint little town nestled in the Sierras. Had some excellent Mexican food down the street. Would recommend to anyone 👌

Great place right on the Yuba River.Many places to sit it shade to watch the river. We arrived very early and asked where was parking. She showed us where to park right behind the Motel facing the river
Only downside was the stairs from the parking lot to the street and again inside up to the rooms. Easy self check-in and out. Lots of email communication on what to do and expect. Loved it!
