I moved to Bloomington for work from another State and found the unique rental market here beyond challenging and companies like this make it worse. I saw a new listing pop up that I liked so I called and scheduled an appointment for that day at 4:30pm. That time came and went so at 4:45 I called the office. No one picked up - I went through the entire phone tree and left messages for everyone, including the owner - no response. The next morning, I call again and spoke to a different agent to schedule another appointment (original person never reached out or apologized for the inconvenience of no-showing). Of course now, because the market here is so jacked, they don't have any appointments for that unit for a day and half. Low and behold, I get an AUTOMATED TEXT, not a phone call, that my appointment has been canceled because the unit has been rented. The final insult is another text after I complained apologizing for the "misunderstanding". Oh I understood perfectly. The lack of professionalism and customer service screws with peoples lives and can have major repercussions for them which they obviously just don't care about. Business is good, thanks to 40,000 college students, so no skin off their nose, right? Says something that they have just as many negative reviews as positive - and many of the positive ones are from property OWNERS not renters - so it's obvious who they're focused on. Honestly, after all that, perhaps I should thank them for scaring me off - if this is how they treat potential customers, would hate to be their tenant.
EDIT: I DID address it back then, as I mentioned, and had the ability to contact me (attested to by the fact that you had me in your records). I complained and received a text. You could have called then and chose not to. Now that it's made public, you want to make a bunch of useless excuses. And automation is meant to be a tool, not a complete modus operandi. True professionals accept accountability and do better. I won't hold my breath - if the pattern described in these reviews demonstrates anything, it will be mediocre business as usual.

Over the years, Lori has served as our realtor when both buying and selling our homes. She is professional, highly respected among peers, and ensures transactions are thorough and complete. We trust Lori to get the job done with integrity and respect to all parties.

I previously rented many years from Choice and have recently used them to purchase my first home. From a renters perspective, Choice was very prompt in getting maintenance completed and very fair in the move out process! Their online system was so easy to use. I never had any issues with the office and their staff was always a pleasure to work with!

As someone purchasing their first home, Choice made everything so easy! We worked with Beth Ivey and she was a joy. She was thorough in her research when showing us houses, available any time we needed her, and made the whole process smooth.

I would recommend Choice Realty for any renter or buyer!

I signed a lease with Choice Realty in Aug of 2017 and have been nothing but pleased the entire time. Stacy and Wendy (and Lori) are so helpful through the entire process of finding a place, viewing it, signing the lease, and any "issues" that have come up. They are great about giving notice for regular maintenance. I have had to request maintenance twice, both over the weekend (coincidentally) and maintenance was there Monday morning fixing the problem both times. I am so pleased with them that I have chosen to move to another property of theirs instead of going with a realty management group or independent apartment complex. Again, Stacy and Wendy are great at setting up a time to view the new apartment, working with me on move in dates, etc. It feels more like a friendship than a business transaction. I will not go anywhere else.

I wish 0 stars was an option. This is easily one of the most unethical companies I've ever had to deal with. The first two weeks I lived there, there was a flood in our apartment caused by the third floor tenants. There was water coming from everywhere. It soaked our couch, rugs, kitchen walls, electrical fixtures, surround sound, entertainment center.. the list could go on and on. We were verbally promised that we would not be docked on this when it came time for our deposit refund, but a $250 repainting fee for the kitchen was taken out. There are so many other stories I could put on here of how miserable our experience was. Please just realize there are so many other companies to rent from in Bloomington. Don't choose these people. They're awful.

A guy in one of their vans just ran a red light, and then flipped me off when he almost t-boned me and I slammed on the brakes and honked. Company has some garbage people working for it.

We've had a great experience working with this company, both before and after we signed our lease. They are prompt and communicative- Two of the hardest traits to come by in the world of real estate! We highly recommend them.

They're always very nice to future tenants in the beginning. But then they silently take your money without informing you about it. And also, they don't give you 24-hour notice if they want to show your house to someone else, and if your room is locked when they visit, they just come right in and do not care whether you're in the room or not. So be ready for it ig. Like I said again.
1. They will take your money, lots of it (other than rents)
2. They won't be nice no more after you sign the contract.
3. They breach contracts so much it's not even bearable (parking permits, extra fees, etc.)

Good luck and have fun.
