We had a wonderful experience with Downieville Outfitters. Our group of 4 did their shuttle trip to the top of Downieville Downhill trails. We were running a tad later than planned and the owner was so accommodating helping us get bike rentals. Their bike rentals were in excellent shape, I'm often let down from rentals but not today and I'm glad because the trails we rode were legit and I'd hate to have been on a shabby bike. After setting up our bikes the owner told us to take the bike out for a test drive which I thought was really nice because no other shop I've rented from has done that. The bikes felt awesome! He had our seat height and suspension all dialed in perfect before we even arrived.
The bike shop is stocked with lots of great stuff and good deals.
Part of the shop has a restaurant where we grabbed breakfast to go for our shuttle ride.
The owner gave our group a special seperate ride up. On the way he was so friendly and informative and gave us so much history and interesting info about Downieville and a great description of how to find our way through the trails and back to the shop.
Our day was a blast! I highly recommend this shop for the shuttle tours, rentals, merchandise and yummy food! A++

Nothing but wonderful things to say about this shop. The staff was awesome. We brought our 14 year old to Downieville for mountain biking. Greg got him set up with a full suspension rental for the intense trails. His current bike wasn't up to the challenge.
They sized him up and set up an Ibis for him, tested everything and let him run it up and down the street to get a feel for it.
Being an extreme novice parent to mountain biking Greg and his staff walked me and our son through everything! Making sure he was properly fitted and finding the perfect fit for him to ride.
A full bike shop with all the necessary safety gear. He isn't there to upsell you on items you don't need. We did decide to upgraded his helmet, gloves and purchased knee pads after hearing about the trails.
He took the shuttle up the hill with a group of 17, he was the only kid. The others were wonderful and watched out for him as he said it was his first time on the mountain. He crashed twice, braking in his helmet and knee pads, but he said it was amazing. Huge smile on his face when he returned, dirty, sweaty and a little bloody.
We'll definitely be back when the time comes to upgrade his bike. Extremely positive experience.

Picked up our specialized bikes here from Greg, enjoyed a cappuccino from Sabrina while our bikes were tuned. Shuttled to ride Downieville $20. Well priced bikes. Seamless day with high-end gear.

Evan always take great care of my bike when I'm in town, and Greg and the shuttle crew are wonderful. This place is the heart of Downieville. Greg is always super helpful with trail advice and tips!

We just squeezed in a Ride on the Downieville Downhill on 21 October. I have been using Downieville Outfitters for both rental bikes for guests, and shuttle services for over 10 years.

Yesterday, for so Many Reasons, I screwed up and we did not make the 9:00 Shuttle to the Top. We had come quite a Ways to do the Ride, but thought we may be skunked this time due to ...me. The Owner worked things out for us, even though the next Shuttle was booked Solid.

Where else would you find Service like That? We had an incredible 14-mile descent thru 4,000+ feet of beautiful scenery, with the trails in near-perfect shape.

My friends and I got stuck in traffic due to construction on the way there. We showed up 10 min till our scheduled time. They already filled up can full of riders so ordered some excellent parfaits and waited for the second van. The second van shows up and the guy driving us up the mountain was really cool and told us some of the history of Downieville and Sierra Butes. Turns out the guy driving us was the owner. Really awesome company and restaurant next door, could not recommend enough!

Greg and his team are fantastic. They have been there a long time and run a solid business. On more than one occasion, they provided a separate shuttle for my group of friends since someone was not ready in time which really shows that they want to help out and make sure you have a good experience. On another occasion they provided technical help with a derailleur issue free of charge so we could get out for another lap. It is great to have a local shop that really cares. This place is the best shop in Downieville!
