Iconic modernist building on Park Avenue designed by Gordon Bunshaft (1909-1990) of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Completed in 1952, it was the first modern high rise on Park Avenue. It's diagonally across from Mies van der Rohe's Seagram Building, which makes the intersection of 53rd Street and Park Avenue truly iconic indeed. Two temporary sculptures by Claes Oldenburg (1929-2022) grace the courtyard.

Actually, this is the " Lever House", the very first tall building fully covered by glasses in New York City. Please take a close look at this masterpiece designed by SOM architects and finished in the year of 1952! ( Can you believe that ?)
