“MCCCD cancels cultural convocations while ASU and UA continue with ceremonies : An MCCCD spokesperson says this decision came after the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights stated last month that they will withhold funding from public educational institutions if they practice DEI policies.

The spokesperson said the district is aware this change could be disappointing for students, but it will not impact their primary commencement ceremonies.”

They don’t care about the students and as an alum I know to put my time and money into other avenues to support student success since they don’t consider students cultural celebrations.

The staff is absolutely terrible. Very few of them know how their school operates. God help you if you have to deal with one of the customer service toddlers, all of whom are in training. They tell you the first thing on their mind without verifying. They will just outright lie.

I am having the worst experience because I was so unlucky as to add this horrible place as an additional school. Maybe if you start your registration here, they keep your residency info properly, but if you are coming from another Maricopa Community College that already verified your residency, then the people at Mesa pretend to know nothing about it, even though they know everything about it.

I only noticed this issue when I finally looked into why they charged me so much for a course in the past and for future prospective courses. When I brought this to their attention, they refused to refund me because they are lying, scamming thieves.

Their supervisors are lazy and likely have just a little more knowledge than the children answering the phones. The supervisors simply never answer the phone and make you send an email to an account they won't respond to for days.

Avoid this pure garbage, or at least take advantage of the research databases available. Be very careful to completely own your own education when dealing with any of these so-called educational institutions. None of these people care about you, and they know little about the careers listed on their website. I'll be shocked to find a single Java developer at one of these schools who has actually used the Spring framework or JavaFX. None of them teach the Java classes, I can assure you.

This is the worst school I’ve ever been to. They claim they are affordable, but charge you for everything I recently graduated and I had to call to get my diploma because I have not received it and now they are no longer giving physical copies of diplomas and you have to pay five dollars for it. They never mentioned this before I graduated and apparently this has just recently changed so I don’t know why my class is having to deal with this and not the next class . They are also not telling students about this so you’re just having to call to wonder where your diploma is for the only to find out that you need to pay to receive it. Even though we received emails saying it’s going to be delivered to our house. This is a lie and they have not fixed it and they won’t fix it. So of course, I paid five dollars for my diploma I worked so hard for it. I’ve never had any school tell me to Pay for it. The school is also trash when coming to deal with student issues Go to them with a complaint and they will never deal with it. They will just give you the run round good luck trying to feel safe at a school that doesn’t care for its student .

Enrollment here is so bad. The receptionist was friendly but once they put me in a queue next so that someone could “help” me with enrollment, it was downhill.
The person helping me seemed so uninterested, had poor people skills, low energy, and just a general sense of wanting to get me out of there as quickly as possible.
I felt so unwelcome and left with more questions and anxieties.
I’d say this is the type of school where if you can luckily self-enroll yourself online with no hiccups and not have any questions, or deal with a human being, then you’ll be fine.
But if you have any questions or issues that arise, these aren’t the type of people who are going to be helpful. It’s probably gonna be a hassle if you ever have any issues with classes, tuition, tutoring, or tech support of any kind.
It’s very self serve/figure it out yourself.
The thing is that I attended MCC in 2010 and had the same issues, I thought that 14 years later things would be better, it feels worse now. Yes tuition is affordable compared to most other places, but that’s the only thing this place seems to have going for itself. And it’s almost like they know it, they know people are desperate for an affordable education so they can get away with falling short in everything else. I know there are good people here who care, you just really really have to look hard, and it shouldn’t be THAT hard sadly 😔

I decided to go back to school but found out I owed $1,400 to the cashiers office. Upon checking with the collection agency they confirmed that MCC has the balance now. However, MCC basically showed me the door not wanting to help me set up a payment plan. *These charges are from 2013-2016, it doesn't even make sense how I could have enrolled in more classes if I owed money from 2013.
It's sad how far this school dropped down in service being a "community" college, I used to go on field trips and be highly involved in this school. I guess I'm applying to ASU.

I don't know who was in charge of the library or whoever this was but thanks for helping my dad by calling his friend to come pick him up as he was physically unable to do so and was lost, appreciate it (this was possibly around late 2023 or early 2024, not sure of the exact date)
