We had a great experience with "The Affordable and Licensed Handyman." The job was installing wooden panels in our living room. (Originally, we thought we could do it ourselves. Forget it: this requires tools, technical know-how, and lots of experience.)

I had a pretty frustrating issue with our deck leaking, and with the rainy season coming up, I knew I had to get it fixed fast. After talking to a few different contractors, I decided to go with Raul — and I’m so glad I did. Some people quoted to completely rip off all the tiles and redo the deck which was completely out of our very tight budget. Raul did mention that dealing with water leaking would be a difficult job and the correct thing to do would be to redo and re-waterproof the whole deck but he understood our situation and tried to come up with a solution to fix the deck without completely ripping everything out. He first tried sealing the deck with a type of solvent, but unfortunately, the leak didn’t stop. We were honestly scared he was just going to walk away as some contractors might have done, but what really stood out to me, though, was how determined he was to find a solution. Instead of giving up or suggesting some expensive overhaul, Raul took the time to really figure out what was going on. He kept me updated the whole time, explaining what he was trying and why. He would also personally come to the place multiple times to test the leaking. After a few attempts, he finally nailed it with a specific waterproof product and the deck has held up with the recent rain. It's such a relief as water damage to to the wood can be super costly. Honestly, his persistence and attention to detail made all the difference. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares about doing a great job, I can’t recommend Raul enough and will definitely be contacting him again for any of our home repairs. Within a few days he had his crew, spearheaded by Josh out to my place with a crane installing a new unit. Very thorough, very competitive in his pricing and highly recommended!! I needed to extend my roof about a foot to overhang the porch to prevent flooding when it rains. I had called several 5 star roofers and received no responses or they declined the job. None of them seemed interested in doing this roof repair. So I decided to use a handyman and contacted Raul who had repaired my kitchen cabinet floor board that was water damaged and he had done an excellent job with it. This was a bigger job and it was good to see Raul using his crew and they did an Amazing job, doing the framework, installing the roofing, painting all the wood components and then doing something no other workers had done before - he cleaned the work area cleaner than when it was at the start. Raul is knowledgeable, works efficiently, has a hard work ethic, and is FAIR and HONEST. I say honest because we had planned on having a rain gutter installed on the roof extension job but we decided flashing would work better due to the high volume of leaves that fall in that area and would continually clog a new rain gutter. Since the rain gutter was stipulated in the agreement, Raul installed the rain gutter elsewhere in a much needed area. I told him to charge me the difference and he gave me a fair and honest price - that is something most contractors would have taken advantage of. I highly recommend using the Affordable & Licensed Handyman because he is the Real Deal and wants to do an EXCELLENT job for you.

This is a long overdue review, but Raul has been wonderful over the last year with different services. He responds quickly and works with you on what projects are necessary when you want to focus on that. He does charge a bit higher than others when I called around, but we decided to work with Raul because he explained all aspects of the jobs, was focused on the customer service and has a great network of service professionals that he works with.
