We recently visited Virtual Hideout, and had it as a social event for the UoM Esports Society.

We were greeted by some lovely staff members, and I would like to give my big thanks to Hannah who was able to make it happen for us and our members. A massive thank you as well goes out to the other staff members whose names I unfortunately cannot remember but were helping to run the rooms that I wasn't in. The general experience was great, with us being from an esports society you can imagine how competitive some people were, and it was all great fun. We had the 3 hideouts booked, so there was a bit of a competition between the 3 rooms on who could get the highest score on the games that we played.

Speaking about the games, they were great. Who doesn't love some fruit ninja? It was also really great to spectate, and you can see what the other person is seeing through a monitor/TV on the wall. After that we did some laser tag, and it was some 3v3 action between the 3 rooms which was some good fun. Saw some people doing some James Bond action which just shows how immersive it was. I will say as well, the staff were super helpful to people when they were a little bit unsure on what to do in the games, or if there was some small problems with the headsets or the controllers (usually just people putting the wrong controllers in the wrong hands). It is also useful having a fan in the rooms as some of the games are pretty physical!

Our session ended with some beat saber, and our rhythm gamers really came to life there, setting some really high scores. Bit of a niche thing to talk about as well but the waiting room was really groovy, and was all Halloween decorated and whatnot. They also had some props for some pictures as you'll be able to see at the bottom.

We would definitely go again, and I'll try organise it at some point throughout the year as everyone who turned up from the society had a wonderful time.

We had an amazing time here, and I’d definitely recommend this place to others! There were two of us and the dual headset was perfect for us to play games together and against each other.

It was incredibly helpful having a member of staff with us the entire time, guiding us so no time was wasted.

We had a good laugh and agreed that we’ll definitely be coming back here!

I've been a couple of times now and intend to book more. The dual headset with just 2 of you is great, there's so many games to try and the hour flies by. It's enough time to enjoy a variety of games but not too much since some of the games are quite energetic (personal favourite was the zombie shooter game)! I've been to other VR places that just leave you to it but with so many games you spend more time looking and thinking than playing. Here, you have a guide that helps pick and setup the game so you get to play for the whole hour. Highly recommend

From start to finish an amazing experience. Host Daisy was really sweet and helpful. All the games were super fun and such a wide variety. Would definitely go back and for the price it was a steal.

My Partner treated me to a birthday trip here yesterday. So Me and my daughter (7yr old) had a great time trying out vr and playing various games.

My only negative is the hour really flies by so if you can book longer I would recommend to! luckily on this trip it was just me and daughter playing so we got the full time playing but I think if I went with friends that hour would go even quicker and it might not feel like it's worth it just because you'll want to be playing jot watching.

The setup itself is good, nicely decorated, clean toilets and waiting area. The host who looked after us really was fantastic, super friendly, she made sure everything was very clear and stayed with us for the duration, interacting and helping my daughter (Big thank you!)

You can see some negative reviews on here, perhaps because of the name "vr experience" they might expect more than just in a room with headset. My experience however I'd say ignore those reviews, for me they clearly had well spec'd PCs, we experienced no buffering, lag or issues and they are using hive Pro 2s so for the majority unless you have a couple of £K knocking around most won't get to experience VR in that way.

In addition to VR, they also have escape rooms which seems popular as we saw a couple of groups going in and coming out and everyone left with huge smiles.

I'd certainly recommend this place, I believe theyre a bit of a startup and hope to see them grow and expand the setup they have.

I can certainly see me going again.

The people there were really nice and the lobby was great too. However for the VR experience itself it was not up to standard, 3 games crashed after the first level, the controller was not calibrated properly and I was just standing in 1 spot most of the time, at 45 min I was bored and wanted the session to end.... I have been to 3 other VR places and they were extraorinary for the same price. Quite dissapointed,

Really fun place to visit. Silas was amazing! Highly recommend a trip out here with your friends. Pete and I had the most fun. We loved the fighting games, best sabre and of course the plank!

Great fun!! Kids and adults alike had such a laugh! The lady helping us out was fab! Really friendly and knew exactly what games would be best for us! Brilliant fun-defo will visit again.
