Very good communication and great service. Very sad that they only offer a percentage of a cards value for trades. I mean it makes sense for buying cards but for trades it doesnt. With trading it should even if one of the cards are little more less/greater value of ones cards should pay the difference. Which is main reason of the they get 3 stars from me. But other then that it's a nice place with honest people! I definitely they should work on getting services for grading cards too!

Wayward City Games is everything a local game store should be. It’s clean, organized, and—most importantly—welcoming to a wide range of TCG communities, including those that often get overlooked. Whether you're into Magic, Pokémon, Lorcana, ONe Piece or a game that hasn’t had a new print run in over five years(i.e. Transformers), you'll find support, space, and a thriving community here.

One of the things I truly appreciate is their commitment to fair pricing. In a market flooded with “market rate” gouging—especially for Pokémon products—Wayward stands apart. While there may be a slight markup compared to vending machines or some online retailers, it’s more than reasonable. That difference supports a real, physical space where players can gather, compete, and build connections. It’s a small price to pay for community, consistency, and a welcoming environment.

A quick note on Joe, since I’ve seen a few reviews mention him—he’s one of the owners, and he’s deeply passionate about both the games and the people who play them. He can come across as a bit brusk or direct, and I’ve experienced that myself once or twice. But in hindsight, those conversations left me better informed. For example, I learned why formal Pokémon League stores can’t sell certain items—like alcohol—even if other shops do. Even a perceived connection can cost a store its official status. Joe’s knowledge runs deep, and he’s not gatekeeping it—he’s sharing it, sometimes with a little edge, but *always* with sincerity.

Don’t let a first impression or a brief, direct interaction keep you from experiencing what this shop has to offer. For every bit of edge, there’s an equal amount of genuine concern, empathy, and passion for his fellow gamers. Joe’s player-first mentality and his dedication to building an inclusive, supportive TCG community are exactly why I keep coming back and have WCG as my first choice when buying product locally. This place is the real deal, and it deserves to thrive.

TL;DR: Great store, fair prices, knowledgeable staff, and a strong community focus. Highly recommend.

cool place but i went in about a week ago and asked if they were taking trade ins and they said yes, the guys who i was talking to then were super nice! they offer so much percentage on cards i was excited because i have a new set i wanted to buy from them with the cards i would have sold but today i went in and was told i was incorrect and misinformed and that they haven't been doing trades ins in a long time and was basically made to feel dumb for even asking. seems like im not the only person to go in simply asking a question and being talked down but either way there is nicer ways to communicate with potentially paying customers.

Really cool store! Lots of cards of all kinds: Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Lorcana, etc. They have dice as well but it's mostly about the cards. They also have snacks and drinks for sale so you don't need to pause your game to get a bite to eat. Super neat place!

Great place to come get your game on! I’m new to the trading card game scene and I’ve come in a few times and every time someone’s there to help answer my questions and even the game peeps are awesome and let me sit in and watch and learn. Good times and from what I can tell great competitive pricing on everything as well. I bought a Twinkie for a dollar it’s was oddly so yummy! Hadn’t had one in years!!!! Whooooooo

Drove down here to buy some ETB's to rip, had three listed "in stock" online. This is just to preface the actual interaction with the "owner of the store" (his words). Got there, walked around and viewed some people playing various games, (the shop itself is a really cool place). Waited to ask about the online stock, he shows up in a hurried tone wanting to know what I need (he walked up with other patrons and was sitting down to check prices on singles they wanted to purchase), I back away so he could focus on helping the people that were in front of him. He insisted I ask my question, I ask him about the online stock, and he says "we don't have them" end of story. I take a step back to check the online stock again and at this point am wondering if they have multiple locations or dedicated online stock not out for sale on the floor, which is fair. Man decides to yell over his current interaction and say "We don't have anything in stock, it's not here, I am the owner of the store, I would know!" Cool deal. Thanks for reiterating and yelling to cause a scene. 10/10 would not recommend going here. Absolutely baffled at the way I was treated for asking ONE question. Love the local tournament and TCG vibe, and this put me off.

I have been trying to give this store my money for over a year. I have come in multiple times to attempt to purchase product, participate in events, and ask questions. Every single time the person at the front (I assume the owner cause its always the same guy) has given me attitude, treated me like I was stupid, and been passively hostile to my questions about how I can participate in the community here. I'm giving up on this place, tons of card shops in Portland and Washington, no reason to waste your money being mistreated by this jerk. Do not recommend.

The guy running the place at 5:15 Sunday (Beard with gauges in ears) is rude as hell! Like the rudest employee I've ever dealt with. I came into the shop with hundreds to spend and left because he kept hovering over me very impatiently and seemed upset. Every question I asked was responded to angrily. Like asking if Pokemon go cards were a specific set or something different entirely he continues to name the big cards sarcastically.like I should have heard about them before. After about 15 minutes of looking around he insisted that I cash out. I thought they were closing but apparently he wanted me out lol. Weirdest experience ever.
